The goal is to create a pathway for women to attain leadership positions and develop profitable businesses in the&nbsp;tech industry.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.dmcinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/27161309\/Powerpoint-slide.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As a DMC employee and project manager on our <a href=\"\/services\/digital-workplace-solutions\">Digital Workplace Solutions Team<\/a>,&nbsp;Anjali was a familiar face to&nbsp;women in attendance. She and&nbsp;Korsgard&nbsp;shared more information about why organizations like WIT are important in supporting the growth of women who work in technology:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n<p>Only 26%\u00a0of professional computing occupations in 2018 in the U.S. workforce were held by women\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n<p>Only 11%\u00a0of professional computing occupations in 2018 in the U.S. workforce were held by women of color\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dreamhost.com\/blog\/state-of-women-in-tech\/\">The turnover rate is\u202fmore than twice as high<\/a>&nbsp;for women (41%)\u202fthan it is for men (17%) in tech industry jobs&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-impact-of-nbsp-choosing-diversity-inclusion\">THE IMPACT OF&nbsp;CHOOSING DIVERSITY + INCLUSION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees heard how&nbsp;research into&nbsp;diversity by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/business-functions\/organization\/our-insights\/delivering-through-diversity\">McKinsey &amp; Company<\/a>&nbsp;supports a positive impact of inclusion on an organization\u2019s successes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on their executive teams were&nbsp;21% more&nbsp;likely&nbsp;to perform at above average profitability levels,&nbsp;and&nbsp;35% more likely&nbsp;to perform at above average profitability levels when in the top quartile for ethnic and cultural diversity&nbsp;in the workplace.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;report,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/industries\/healthcare\/our-insights\/us-health-systems-diversify-to-thrive\">Delivering through Diversity<\/a>,&nbsp;also found that&nbsp;these&nbsp;high-performing&nbsp;companies all developed&nbsp;diversity and inclusion strategies that aligned with their core company values.&nbsp;Having well-aligned strategies&nbsp;correlated with companies attracting&nbsp;top talent and improving&nbsp;their customer orientation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.dmcinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/27161309\/Listeners.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wit-guest-speaker\">WIT GUEST SPEAKER<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>WIT\u2019s main speaker of the evening,&nbsp;Theresa Stewart&nbsp;(Designer and Cultural Consultant&nbsp;from&nbsp;Colored),&nbsp;gave instructions&nbsp;in evaluating company need for diversity and inclusion training in the workplace.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stewart provided&nbsp;an&nbsp;honest and tangible look at the&nbsp;issues&nbsp;organizations can&nbsp;face when it comes to diversity and inclusion.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.dmcinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/27161308\/Speaker.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dmc-chicago-wit\">DMC CHICAGO + WIT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The evening culminated in a chance for&nbsp;guests and WIT members to network and enjoy some appetizers at&nbsp;the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmcinfo.com\/contact\/chicago\/\">DMC&nbsp;Chicago<\/a> office.&nbsp;A discussion developed between WIT members and DMC members present regarding the issues faced by women and people of color within organizations around Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WIT members offered&nbsp;effective methods of&nbsp;diversity and inclusion training&nbsp;that they&nbsp;have used&nbsp;previously&nbsp;in their organizations, and DMC gained a lot of insight into what other technology companies are doing to create a positive impact in tech.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.dmcinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/27161308\/Food.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.dmcinfo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/27161307\/SWAG.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about <a href=\"\/about\">DMC&#8217;s Company Culture<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DMC sponsored a gathering of the Chicago chapter of WIT, Women in Technology, in our recently expanded office space.&nbsp; After kicking off the event with appetizers and a meet and greet, Chicago WIT co-chairs Annie Korsgard and Anjali Bharadwa introduced WIT\u2019s core values and issues facing women in technology today.
