DMC created a PLC program and WinCC OA program in tandem, maximizing the use of object oriented (OO) concepts during implementation. By designing the system with OO in mind, ease of implementation and, more importantly, expansion were significantly improved. New subsystems can be brought online by just commissioning a new PLC with the appropriate subsystem program.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

DMC used WinCC OA\u2019s built-in redundancy to create a high availability system which is able to continue operation in the event of a server failure. This allows the facility to maintain production and CFR 21 Part 11 compliance with zero loss of production.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The long term data storage requirements of this project required the use of a database which has more capability than the built in RAIMA database in WinCC OA. WinCC OA\u2019s Oracle integration is seamless and can be configured with just a small amount of configuration work. Once configured, Oracle integrates with WinCC OA as seamlessly as the built-in RAIMA database. Oracle was used to log audit, value archive and alarm & event data.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
