David Salzmann

David is a member of DMC’s Automation team in San Diego. David holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. He has experience in electrical circuit CAD and simulation, soldering, and using circuit analysis tools such as oscilloscopes. He is also practiced in signal and image processing using Python and MATLAB. His hands‑on background includes working as a lab technician in an engineering makerspace and serving as a teaching assistant for an analog circuits laboratory course. In his free time, David enjoys surfing, playing board and video games, tinkering on his keyboard, and—by his own admission—annoying his sister.

Luke Horwath

Luke is a member of DMC’s Automation team in Chicago. Luke earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, bringing experience in 3D design (SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD), coding (MATLAB, Arduino, Python), and leading project teams and presentations. He has completed engineering internships focused on process improvement, data‑driven problem‑solving, and creative mechanical design. His academic projects range from building a remote‑controlled food‑delivery robot to developing a biomedical pill‑transport system using mechanical and thermal sensors. He also competed on the FOX reality series LEGO Masters, finishing in the top five among world‑class builders.

A lifelong LEGO creator, Luke designed and built the world’s first fully operational life‑size LEGO pinball machine at age 15. His other custom builds include a life‑size arcade claw machine, a drivable go‑kart, functioning roller coasters, and character sculptures. In his free time, he enjoys ventriloquism, beatboxing, and juggling.

Jiamiao Zhang

Jiamiao is a member of DMC’s Automation team in Houston. Jiamiao holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. He has experience coding in various coding languages, and a background in communications, signal processing, networks and systems. His past experience stems from past internships working in a manufacturing plant and gaining experience working in process and automation-controls roles. In his free time, Jiamiao enjoys learning how things work through engineering content, slowly hoarding gadgets and tools so he is always prepared, and playing video games with friends.

Cole West

Cole graduated from Missouri S&T with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a minor in Electrical Engineering. He has experience with various forms of PLC programming, controller configuration, and microcontroller development. Through previous internships, he gained exposure to multiple real‑world applications of control systems and automation technologies. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies in theaters, playing video games with friends, and flameworking.

Tyler Dierckman

Tyler is a member of DMC’s Automation team in Washington, D.C. Tyler earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University, along with a minor in Computer Science. He has experience in programming (Python and MATLAB), circuit design, and computational modeling. His project work includes developing drug concentration models during a research fellowship, contributing to a field‑repairable medical oxygen concentrator, and helping design a laparoscopic surgical grasper with integrated real‑time haptic feedback. In his free time, Tyler enjoys hiking, skiing, playing video games, playing pickleball, and experimenting with new recipes.

Neal Walters

Davis Robeson

Davis is a member of DMC’s Automation team in Houston. Davis graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a minor in Thermal Fluids, and a concentration in Aerospace. While working full-time, he earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Most recently, Davis worked for a Japanese automotive company, starting in the Facilities department, where he upgraded their building automation systems. Next, he moved into hardware and software development for equipment design in the Weld department. His primary design platforms are Omron PLCs, Omron and Proface HMIs, AB Safety PLCs, and Yaskawa SIgma-7 Motion Controllers. In his free time, you can usually find Davis traveling with his wife and their dogs, working on a piece of furniture for friends or family, or losing sleep trying to bring a derelict motorcycle back from the dead.
