DMC San Diego: Growing Strong in the Southwest

Over the past year, DMC’s San Diego office has experienced exciting growth, reinforcing our commitment to serving clients across the Southwestern United States. We’re proud to share some of our recent highlights as we look forward to continuing to grow our presence in the region.

Team Growth

Our San Diego team has grown to 12 talented engineers with deep expertise in manufacturing automation and test and measurement automation. Each team member brings unique skills and perspectives that elevate our work and ensure we’re ready to tackle complex engineering challenges across industries.

We’re also thrilled to announce that two additional engineers will be joining us in early 2026. This expansion reflects our commitment to investing in a strong, collaborative team and strengthens our ability to deliver exceptional solutions and support for our clients.

Expanding Client Base

With this growing team, we’ve seen a significant increase in client partnerships throughout the Southwest region, including California, Arizona, and Nevada. From automation projects to custom solutions, our team is proud to help businesses achieve their goals with cutting-edge technology and expertise.

Whether we’re supporting clients in biotech, electric vehicles, energy, battery, or other industries, our team is dedicated to helping businesses achieve measurable results. We’re grateful for the trust our clients place in us and look forward to building on these relationships.

New Service Offerings

In addition to our core automation services, we’re excited to introduce DMC test and measurement services to the San Diego office. Our team also supports embedded development, application development, and digital workplace solutions projects. This expansion allows us to provide a broader range of solutions, ensuring we meet diverse client needs with precision and innovation.

Building Partnerships

Collaboration remains central to our mission. Over the past year, we have continued to strengthen relationships with industry partners, enabling us to deliver integrated solutions and stay ahead of emerging technologies. We work closely with automation partners including Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, Inductive Automation, and more. For test and measurement projects, our partners include NI, Pickering, and UEI.

These partnerships help us deliver fully integrated solutions and ensure our clients benefit from the latest tools, platforms, and industry best practices. As the technological landscape evolves, we remain committed to continuous learning and strategic collaboration—allowing us to stay ahead of emerging trends and deliver exceptional value to our customers.

DMC San Diego Takes to the Skies

San Diego — home to beautiful beaches, sunny skies, and one of DMC’s newest offices. Over the past few months, those of us in “America’s Finest City” have taken the time to explore all the amazing opportunities that San Diego and its surroundings have to offer – from taking on surf and summit to dancing the night away (blog coming soon). Recently, DMC San Diego reached new heights by taking a leap of faith.

The group had a pre-flight sandwich lunch from Green Bowl Cafe in La Jolla.

Perched upon the cliffs overlooking Blacks Beach rests the Torrey Pines Gliderport: “the most historic aviation site in North America and Southern California’s premiere location for paragliding, hang gliding, remote control models and sailplanes.” It was here that, on one sunny Saturday afternoon, DMC San Diego took to the skies.

After checking in with our friend Rae – who works at the gliderport – we met our instructor pilots on a grassy field with their paragliders. Before long, we were airborne. With the beach below and the cliffs and ocean on either side, we soared, dipped, and glided through the air.

November Fun at DMC

To have fun is a core value at DMC. From our Activity Fund (a monthly budget dedicated to fun activities), to the ‘welcome parties’ thrown for each employee upon joining DMC, or Yearly Office Events (YOEs), there’s always something fun going on at one of our offices.

Spooky season is upon us! Beware! Witches, ghosts, and ghouls roam through the night. But that won’t keep DMCers from going out and having fun! From more YOEs to spooky tricks, here’s what the offices have been up to this month!

San Diego YOE!

New office on the block DMC San Diego held their first ever YOE this month: Surf’s Up YOE! Here’s a look at all the fun you may have missed out on:

DMC San Diego Takes on Surf and Summit

In case you weren’t aware, DMC is expanding to 5 new locations in 2022! Among the list of new DMCities is San Diego, also known as “America’s Finest City.”

With the ocean and mountains dominating the area around San Diego, it only made sense that those of us in “DMC’s Finest Office” should take advantage of these two amazing natural features. That’s just what we did; one beautiful April weekend, we took on both surf and summit.

Saturday – Surf

The California coast boasts some of the most epic surf spots in the world, and we aimed to take advantage of them. With dreams of hanging ten and crushing barrels dancing in our heads, we took to the beach, donned some tight wet suits, and grabbed our boards.

Although we lacked prior surfing experience, Greg from Pacific Surf had us covered. A quick land-based surf lesson featured the basics of paddling, standing up on the board, and walking through shallow water in a manner known as the sting ray shuffle.

Once we were deemed prepared and worthy, we hit the waves. In no time, Greg had us up on our feet and surfing like pros (correction: surfing like beginners).

Sunday – Summit

In addition to beautiful beaches and stellar surf, Southern California is home to rolling hills and towering mountains that are perfect for hiking. Just a day after our surfing adventure, the DMC crew arose in the wee hours of the morning and set off towards Palm Springs and Coachella Valley with one goal in mind: conquering San Jacinto Mountain.

Upon arriving to San Jacinto State Park, we laced up our hiking boots and boarded the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The large cable car featured a rotating floor that offered a stunning 360-degree view of the mountains and valley floor below. We eventually reached the Mountain station (8,516’ above sea level) and began our hike.

Through snow and ice, the DMC crew trekked 6 miles and roughly 2,600 ft of elevation gain to reach the San Jacinto summit. Though the hike was tough and the trails a bit sketchy at times, the views were well worth the effort.

May Fun at DMC

Six the Musical

The Chicago office used their Activity Fund to go see “Six” the Musical at Broadway in Chicago.

Sushi Making

The Chicago office got an “Intro to the Art of Sushi.” The 2-hour class taught the essentials of sushi making and gave Chicago DMCers the chance to apply their new knowledge by making four different sushi rolls.

Dave Menne’s Welcome Lunch

DMC Chicago welcomed Dave Menne (and the return of warm weather) with a taco welcome lunch on the rooftop!

Surfing

The San Diego office learned how to surf!
